Online Masterclasses

I understand. You’re busy. You know what training you want. You need the flexibility to access it on your own terms.

I have created online recordings of the content of some of my most popular workshops. You can access them as and when you need them. There’s video – subtitled of course so you can watch and/or listen as you prefer, the slides are there and a workbook as a downloadable pdf file. You’ll find everything you need in the most convenient format. And of course, you can ask me questions.

These masterclasses are available for individual or organisational purchase. See possible content here.

Let me know what access you need and we can make this happen! Contact me now.

Strategies for Getting Stuff Done

Never more relevant than now; personally and professionally we are faced with the need to get (even more) stuff done.

This workshop covers vitally important elements including prioritisation, organising our time and our diaries, ways to deal with overwhelm and how to get things done.

We approach this through the lens that time management is also very much about energy management, facing tasks with the right attitudes and the right energies to get things done.

This content will give you tools to help you to choose the most important things when all things seem important. We will consider different ways to assess priorities, to deal with time-wasters and with deadlines.

We also explore a number of tools and strategies to help us make better use of the time that we have.

Confident Speaking at Meetings

What to say. How to say it. How to feel good while you’re saying it!

Surveys regularly reveal that public speaking is the most feared professional activity and is dreaded even more than death!

During this masterclass we explore the basic components: why we are present and what is the nature of our role. We will cover planning for your meeting, structuring the content and preparing to deal with questions. We will also look in detail at communication skills including the effective use of your voice and the power of body language. Many people experience stress or anxiety as they prepare for speaking so we will be covering strategies to reduce anxiety.

In this workshop we will explore how to:
• Prepare and structure your content
• Communicate confidently
• Manage anxiety and “presentation stress”.

Managing Your Research Project

Many researchers find that project management is a responsibility that creeps up on them while they are busy doing something else – usually working on a research project.

Awareness of the requirements of project management can make it easier to write grant applications, plan project work more effectively, identify risks, manage resources and plan tasks more efficiently.

Effective project management can reduce the stress or fog associated with getting the job done properly, on time and on budget.

This is not a workshop on PRINCE 2, MS-Project or any formal management system.

Rather, this workshop will examine the nature of project management from the perspective of a researcher proactively taking responsibility for their own research and planning and for managing additional research projects more formally.
